The latest index includes new parameters ​related to digital economy advancement, institutional openness, sustainable practices,‌ and other key ‌areas. ⁣Noteworthy FTZs like Shanghai’s Lin’gang New Area, Xiamen in Fujian Province,⁣ Chengdu⁣ in Sichuan Province, and Hengqin‌ in Guangdong⁤ Province also‌ secured positions in the top 10 rankings.

China’s inaugural​ pilot FTZ was established in Shanghai in 2013 with ⁢a primary focus on testing groundbreaking reforms in governmental processes, financial systems, trade regulations, foreign investment policies, and taxation frameworks. Over the years, China⁤ has expanded​ its pilot FTZ network to ⁢encompass 22 zones, facilitating ‍the ⁤successful implementation of 349 institutional reform ⁢initiatives that have‌ had a nationwide impact, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
