Aerus Initiates Service to Brownsville and Corpus Christi, Texas from Monterrey

Aerus has officially announced its plans to commence operations ⁣to the ⁣Texas border cities of Brownsville and ⁢Corpus Christi from Monterrey, beginning on September 12, 2024, following the submission of their application to the United⁣ States Department of ⁣Transportation (USDoT) five months prior.

Being the fourth Mexican​ airline to bridge the United States with Mexico,‍ Aerus joins the‍ ranks of Aeromexico, Viva Aerobus, and Volaris in offering these new connections. CEO of Aerus, Javier Herrera Garcia, expressed‌ enthusiasm about the ⁣upcoming launch, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to providing passengers with a superior travel experience⁢ marked by comfort, safety, punctuality, and service quality.

Popular among Mexican visitors for their shopping opportunities near the border, both Brownsville and Corpus Christi are eagerly anticipated destinations​ for Aerus travelers.

Flight​ Schedule and Service Details

Travelers ⁣can expect swift and efficient flights lasting approximately 30 to 45 minutes, significantly reducing the‌ travel time from Monterrey to Brownsville and Corpus Christi by road, which typically takes 3 hours and 45 minutes and 5 hours ‍and 30 minutes, respectively. Aerus will operate these routes using Cessna Grand Caravan⁢ aircraft, ensuring a seamless boarding process and allowing passengers to check in up ⁢to 60 minutes prior to ⁢departure.

Services to Brownsville will run daily, offering a total of 126 seats​ per week, while flights to⁤ Corpus‌ Christi will be available​ four times a week (on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday), enabling the transportation of up to 72 passengers weekly.

Overview of Aerus Operations

Aerus currently serves eleven destinations across the northeast and Gulf of Mexico regions through fourteen routes. In 2023, the airline successfully transported 12,610 passengers, ⁤as reported by AFAC Mexico.

With ⁣a fleet comprising five Cessna Grand Caravan EX aircraft, each ⁢accommodating 9 passengers, Aerus ​has invested USD 98 million in ‍expanding its⁢ fleet to include seven ⁣Grand Caravans⁣ and seven Cessna ⁢408 SkyCourier aircraft with a capacity for 19 passengers each. Furthermore, the airline has expressed interest in acquiring 30 electric aircraft from Eviation Aircraft.

Aerus, a subsidiary of Aerotransportes Rafilher, a‌ company specializing in air taxi services based in San Luis Potosí, is under the ownership of Javier Herrera Garcia,​ a prominent figure in Grupo Herrera. With over 80 years of experience in‍ the financial, real estate, and automotive sectors, Grupo Herrera is engaged in importing ⁤and distributing⁤ luxury car brands such as Rolls Royce, Maserati, Lotus, and⁢ McLaren⁣ in the‍ Mexican market.
