Ahmedabad University Unveils Bagchi School of Public Health in Honor of Renowned Donors
Ahmedabad University recently introduced the Bagchi School of Public Health, a groundbreaking institution established in 2023 and named after esteemed philanthropists Susmita and Subroto Bagchi. The main goal of the Bagchi School of Public Health is to redefine public health education and research standards in India. Thanks to the generous grant of INR 55 crores from the Bagchi couple, the School is set to advance its physical, digital, and intellectual infrastructure to global standards. This substantial investment will position the School as a frontrunner in public health education and research both locally and internationally.
Leveraging the distinct interdisciplinary environment of Ahmedabad University, the Bagchi School integrates research, education, and practical application to address key public health issues. Notably, the School will introduce specialized Master’s and PhD programs focusing on core public health disciplines. For instance, the flagship program, a PhD in Epidemiology, equips students with advanced analytical and soft skills essential for tackling complex public health challenges. Initial areas of concentration include Environmental Health and Analytical Methods for Health, encompassing Biostatistics and Data Science.
