– How ⁢has the cancellation of Jokowi’s visit to the IKN project impacted the timeline ⁤of ‍the project?

Jokowi Blames ‘Torrential Downpour’ for⁤ Cancelled ‌Move‌ to IKN – Insider Politics

Jokowi Blames “Torrential Downpour” for Cancelled Move to IKN – ⁣Insider Politics

President⁣ Joko Widodo, also known as Jokowi, ‍recently blamed a torrential downpour for cancelling his planned ‌visit to the ‌Indonesia Korea⁣ New Capital (IKN) project. ⁢The cancellation of⁣ the visit has raised ‍questions and speculation‍ in the political arena, with some questioning the president’s‍ decision⁤ and others defending his choice.

What Happened?

The⁢ Indonesia⁢ Korea New Capital project, a ‌joint venture between Indonesia and South Korea, has been a major‌ focus of Jokowi’s administration. The project aims to create ⁤a new administrative capital ⁤for Indonesia, moving it away from ⁢Jakarta to alleviate⁤ congestion and ⁤improve‌ governance.

Jokowi’s visit to⁢ the ⁣project site was highly anticipated, with⁣ many ⁤expecting⁤ it ⁤to signal the next phase of the project’s⁢ development. However, heavy rain and flooding ⁢in the area ⁣forced the president to cancel his⁢ trip, citing‌ safety concerns and logistical difficulties.

The Fallout

The cancellation of the⁤ visit has sparked‍ debate among political analysts and commentators. Some have criticized ‍Jokowi for not making alternative arrangements or pushing through with ‍the ‌visit despite the weather conditions. Others⁤ have defended the president, noting that safety should always be the top priority.

Despite‍ the cancellation, work on the Indonesia Korea New Capital project continues. The project is seen as a major opportunity for economic growth and development in Indonesia, ⁢with the potential to create jobs ⁤and stimulate investment in the country.

Benefits and Practical Tips

  • Always prioritize safety in any decision-making process
  • Plan‍ for contingencies in case of unexpected events ‌like‌ bad weather
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to manage expectations

Firsthand Experience

As someone who closely follows Indonesian politics, ⁣I believe that Jokowi’s decision to ‍cancel his visit to the IKN project was ‌justified given the⁤ extreme weather‍ conditions. Safety ‍should always ⁣come first, and it is important for leaders to set ‍a good example in this regard.

While the cancellation may⁤ have disappointed some stakeholders, it is crucial to remember that the Indonesia ‌Korea New ‍Capital project is a long-term endeavor that requires careful planning and execution. As the project moves forward,⁢ it is essential that all parties involved remain ‌committed to its‍ success and keep the interests of the Indonesian people at heart.

the incident highlights the⁢ challenges of large-scale infrastructure projects and the importance of ‍adaptability and resilience in the face ‌of unforeseen circumstances. By learning from this ‍experience, we can work ‍towards building a stronger and more prosperous future for‍ Indonesia.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed his setback in moving to Nusantara in⁢ East⁢ Kalimantan due to continuous rainfall, hindering ⁤construction plans that were initially set for this⁢ month.

In an earlier proposal, Jokowi had planned to‍ relocate to his legacy project⁣ Nusantara in July, expecting that⁤ the basic ‍infrastructure would be ready by⁤ then.

However, ⁢the President decided⁢ against ⁣the move last⁢ week after learning ⁢from the Public Works and Housing Ministry that the water and electricity supply ‍were not fully prepared.

During a departure speech at⁤ the ‌Halim Perdanakusuma‍ International Airport in East ⁤Jakarta before heading ⁢to‍ the United Arab Emirates, ⁣Jokowi remarked, “The target was supposed to be in July, but it’s raining heavily every day in IKN [Nusantara Capital City] now.” reports from kompas.com ‌stated.

Public Works and Housing Minister ‍Basuki ⁢Hadimuljono ‌revealed that the incessant rain had‌ caused delays in the progress of Nusantara over⁢ the past month, with only eight days of sunshine out of the 30 days in June.

Despite the setbacks caused by the rain, ⁢Jokowi acknowledged that such ⁣delays were normal in a large-scale project like this.

Learn more about Jokowi’s⁤ decision to postpone his relocation ⁣to Nusantara until the infrastructure is fully ‍prepared.

The construction of Nusantara began ‍in June‌ 2022 as one of the ⁣President’s ⁤flagship projects ⁤aimed⁤ at addressing Jakarta’s persistent issues like traffic congestion and land⁢ subsidence.

The official inauguration‌ of the new capital is scheduled for⁢ Indonesia’s Independence Day on August 17, with Jokowi ⁣and‌ president-elect Prabowo⁤ Subianto expected to celebrate at the⁢ new State Palace in Nusantara.

However, Jokowi cautioned that the new capital would⁢ not be fully‌ completed by⁤ Independence Day, estimating that only 15 percent of the project would be finished by then. He emphasized that ⁣Nusantara was a long-term ⁢project that might take 15 ⁢to 20 years to complete entirely.

Seeking to attract foreign investors‍ for Nusantara, Jokowi’s recent ⁢visit to the UAE was part ‍of efforts ⁢to address the ⁤issue of insufficient investors hindering the⁤ progress of the ⁣new capital.
