The Kano State‌ Government recently gave the green light for the release of N29 billion to ⁤kickstart and finalize various capital projects across the state. These approvals were granted during the state’s Executive Council‍ Meeting, headed by Governor Abba Yusuf in Kano, as​ confirmed by Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa,⁤ the Director-General of Media and Publicity.

Allocation Breakdown

One of the significant ⁤allocations includes⁢ N7.7 billion ⁣earmarked for the⁤ continuous dualization of a 5-kilometer road that spans ‌through all 44 Local Government Areas in Kano. Additionally, the council approved N239 million for the construction of three essential rural roads in Ja’en ⁣Makera-Salanta Gudduba-Unguwar Baizangon Guliya and Fagoje-Kwanar‍ Zuwo, benefiting Gwale, Ajingi, and Kiru/Madobi LGAs.

Infrastructure and Equipment Procurement

The state government also greenlit the procurement of 500 relief transformers to be distributed across various ⁤communities in the 44 local government⁢ areas at a cost of N7.1 ‌billion. Furthermore, ‌an allocation of N6.4 billion was approved for the 2024 Constituency Projects in the state.

Other ⁣Initiatives

Among the council’s resolutions ‌was the ⁣approval for the construction ‍of a 2-coat surface dressed road from Kwanar Gammawa in Gezawa LGA at a budget of N343 million. Additionally, N819 million was allocated for the procurement ‍of 20 Toyota Hilux and one Toyota Bus for Ministries,⁣ Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

A ​Focus on Rural Development

A substantial amount of N5.3 billion⁤ was also allocated for the construction of rural roads, intervention projects, and counterpart funds under rural access and agricultural marketing⁣ schemes. Part of this⁣ funding will go towards the renovation⁤ and conversion of offices for the Chairman of‌ the Anti-Phone Snatching⁢ Task Force ⁤Committee at Coronation Hall.
