Addis Ababa Gears Up to Host Preliminary Meeting for Fourth International Conference on Financial Development: Ambassador Nebiyu
MFAE
The Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has disclosed that arrangements are in progress to host a preliminary conference for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD) in Addis Ababa from July 22–26, 2024. Ambassador Nebiyu Tedla, representing the Ministry, shared this information during a media briefing today.
The upcoming conference in Addis Ababa will act as a pivotal moment for the Fourth International Conference scheduled to take place in Spain in 2025. In 2015, Ethiopia successfully hosted the 3rd FfD, which culminated in the endorsement of the Addis Ababa Action Agenda (AAAA) as a robust global financial framework aimed at mobilizing resources for the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals and facilitating the realization of the 2030 Agenda.
Anticipated to convene around 1000 ministerial and governmental representatives alongside senior experts from various member states, the United Nations, and other relevant stakeholders, the Preparatory Conference in Addis Ababa will delve into the progress made and challenges encountered in implementing the AAAA. Additionally, it will focus on identifying strategies and initiatives necessary to expedite the mobilization of development finance for the successful realization of the SDGs.
Ethiopia’s selection as the host for the preliminary meeting of the 4th FfD is a testament to its strong diplomatic initiatives and dedication to SDG implementation. By hosting this conference, Ethiopia stands to elevate its tourism and hospitality sectors, facilitate travel arrangements for attendees on Ethiopian Airlines, and bolster its national reputation.
