The arrest of the three suspects in the ‌gold theft ring represents a significant milestone in the ⁣ongoing efforts to combat crime in Abuja. The Abuja Police Department is committed to ‍upholding the rule of law⁤ and ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the city.

Authorities in Abuja have recently apprehended three individuals in connection with a ⁤series of household burglaries involving the ⁢theft of⁣ gold and other valuable items, as reported ⁤by the Police.

At a press conference held in Abuja, ⁤the force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed ⁤that⁣ the arrest of these suspects was‍ a result of a thorough investigation ‍carried out‍ by the Intelligence Response Team⁢ (IRT).

A deeper⁣ delve into ‌the case revealed that the primary suspect is a fish vendor operating ⁣at‍ the Kado fish market in Abuja. The‌ suspects reportedly targeted ‌three residences in the⁤ Lugbe area before breaking⁤ into a fourth house by manipulating the bars of the windows with a motor jack. ⁤Once inside, they rummaged through the property in search of valuable items, ultimately discovering a safe containing money, documents, and gold. Subsequently, they forcefully cracked open ⁢the safe using a hammer and chisel.

Upon uncovering these items, the main culprit engaged a buyer to dispose of ⁢them, ultimately profiting over ⁣N60 million⁢ from the sale, according to Mr Adejobi.

In a separate incident, the IRT also apprehended 16 individuals implicated in⁢ the⁢ theft and robbery of motorcycles ‌and tricycles in Plateau.

Adejobi disclosed that ‍these suspects were known for ⁤their nocturnal activities, targeting unattended motorcycles and tricycles for theft. The arrests were made possible through actionable intelligence gathered by law enforcement agencies.

Moreover, ⁢these individuals had been ⁤impersonating police ‌officers by stopping motorcyclists on the road, presenting fake identification cards, and seizing‌ the vehicles under the pretense‍ of enforcing⁢ regulations.

The⁣ syndicate not ‍only ⁣confiscated⁤ numerous motorcycles but‌ also resold them⁢ within their ⁤network. As a result of the police operation, eight motorcycles⁢ and 11 tricycles ⁢were‍ successfully recovered.

Over the‍ past six weeks, ⁣law enforcement has made significant strides in‌ combating various criminal activities, leading to the apprehension of 1,284 suspects‌ involved in ‍armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, homicide, cultism, and other offenses.

Among the detained individuals,⁤ 307 were linked to armed robbery, 296 to kidnapping, 301 to homicide, 176 to rape and ⁣defilement, and 204 to⁣ cult-related crimes. ⁣Additionally, authorities managed to seize ⁣284 firearms, recover 6,702 rounds of ammunition, retrieve⁤ 107 vehicles, and ‌rescue 97 kidnap⁣ victims during this period.

These‍ efforts underscore the commitment of law enforcement in Abuja to maintain public safety and uphold the rule of law.
