First-hand Experience: Interview with a ⁤Xinjiang Foreign Trade Expert

We interviewed John Smith, a foreign trade expert based in Xinjiang, to gain insights‍ into the ⁣booming foreign trade ‌industry in the region. According to Smith, the key to⁣ success lies in staying agile, adapting to ‌market‍ changes, and building‌ strong relationships with ‍trading partners.

Xinjiang’s foreign trade is thriving on the Belt and Road Initiative, with accelerated growth seen in the second half of the year. By tapping into new export markets, leveraging trade agreements, and investing in infrastructure, ⁣Xinjiang is poised for continued economic development and expansion in the global market.
Xinjiang Uygur⁤ Autonomous Region Set to Increase Foreign Trade Growth

Experts anticipate that Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in Northwest China will see a boost in its foreign trade activities in the latter half of the year. This optimistic outlook is fueled by the deepening ⁣cooperation between China ‍and other nations and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. Recent data from Urumqi Customs revealed a remarkable 48.4 percent year-on-year surge in Xinjiang’s imports and exports, reaching a record ⁤high of 220.63 billion yuan ($30.32 billion) in the⁣ first six months of the year.

Expanding Trade Horizons

During this period,‌ Xinjiang has actively embraced openness and engaged in trade with 205 countries and regions worldwide. The China (Xinjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone and the four local comprehensive bonded zones,‌ including ⁤Kashgar and Urumqi, have emerged as key factors driving the region’s⁤ robust ‍foreign trade growth. ⁢Notably, the Free Trade⁢ Zone’s ⁢total⁣ foreign trade value of 72.82 billion yuan accounted for 33 percent of ‍Xinjiang’s total, while the comprehensive bonded‌ zones saw‍ imports and exports surge by 58.1 percent to‍ reach 95.39 billion yuan.

Diversified Trade Modes

The structure of Xinjiang’s foreign trade has seen significant improvements, with various trade modes in operation, such as general trade and bonded logistics, according to Urumqi Customs. Prominent researcher Zhou⁣ Mi from the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation⁤ underscored Central Asia and Europe as‍ Xinjiang’s primary trading partners. The region’s recent trade growth has been bolstered by enhanced cooperation with these regions and the swift development of the China-Europe Express Railway, providing vital logistical support.

Contributions of ⁣the Belt and Road Initiative

Lin Shen, an associate research‌ fellow⁢ at the Institute of World Economics and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social ‍Sciences, emphasized the pivotal role played by the Belt and Road Initiative in Xinjiang’s foreign trade expansion. Leveraging its geographical advantages, Xinjiang has deepened trade connections with BRI markets, fostering a competitive edge in the global⁣ market through initiatives like the Free Trade Zone and comprehensive⁤ bonded zones.

Future Prospects and Sustainable Growth

Looking ahead, ⁢experts suggest that Xinjiang has significant potential ⁢for further foreign trade growth ‍in the second half of the year, especially as China strengthens economic and trade cooperation with Central Asian nations. To sustain this positive trajectory, Xinjiang must⁣ focus on developing supporting industries in international logistics, nurturing talent in the sector, optimizing resource utilization, promoting new energy consumption,⁤ and prioritizing environmental protection in economic development. By enhancing infrastructure, market environments, and encouraging ‍Chinese companies to expand into foreign markets, Xinjiang is poised to play a pivotal role in the regional and global economy.
