Samoa Strives for Victory in FIFA World Cup 2026™ Oceania Qualifiers

Samoa’s head coach, Jess Ibrom, is confident that‌ his team ‍can surprise fans during the group stage of ⁢FIFA⁢ World Cup 26™ Oceania⁣ Qualifying after leading⁢ them through the first stage. ‍The top ​two teams from Group​ B will advance to the semi-finals in New Zealand in March next year.

In‌ September’s qualifiers against ⁢American Samoa and Tonga in Apia, the team focused⁤ on getting ‍results ‍due to ⁤the tough competition in international football. Even though playing⁣ at home added pressure, they managed to secure victories and ⁤are⁣ now looking forward to the upcoming matches.

Despite this, Ibrom believes​ that the pressure will be ‌on⁤ Vanuatu and‌ not on Samoa. The team is also ‌preparing for November matches against Tahiti and New Zealand.

Ibrom‌ sees⁢ these games as valuable experiences for his players as they ⁣will be competing against professional players ⁣with ‍elite talent during their fixture with New Zealand. While acknowledging that it’s a⁣ massive challenge ⁣due to New Zealand’s dominance​ in the region, he believes it’s not unrealistic for his side ‍to strive for a ‍spot at FIFA Intercontinental Playoff as runners-up.

Having a‍ young‍ squad poses its challenges ⁣but ⁢Ibrom sees‍ this⁤ project as part of a four-year⁤ campaign with ⁢an eye towards peaking during FIFA World Cup 2030™ Oceania Qualifiers.
