The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Oliver Berry (WPC 1124) recently completed a 46-day patrol in Oceania and returned to Honolulu. In Fiji, local law ‍enforcement ‍officers ⁤from different agencies were hosted on board the cutter ⁢under the shiprider provision of ‌the ⁣bilateral maritime law ⁤enforcement agreement. This resulted in ‍conducting ‌several boardings on ⁣recreational vessels, sailing vessels, and commercial fishing vessels ⁤within Fiji’s archipelagic waters.

Upon moving to ⁣Samoa’s vicinity during their patrol, an enhanced bilateral maritime law⁣ enforcement‍ agreement was exercised for detecting ⁢and monitoring‌ active fishing⁤ vessels within Samoa’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
