Recently Completed Condo Project in China Brings Joy and Concerns for Homebuyers

The delivery ⁤of ⁣the Qifu ​City condo project in⁢ Zhengzhou city, Henan province, marks the end ⁢of a long wait for many homebuyers. After enduring⁢ significant delays,​ the ⁣festive mood among property staff welcomed people with lively Chinese music ‌and red decorations.⁢ This long-awaited ⁤moment has brought mixed emotions ​to folksinger Chen Peng, who waited nine years to⁢ receive his key. While he is glad to have finally obtained his⁢ condo, he is also saddened by the resumption of⁤ mortgage payments after his Mortgage Boycott.

China’s Real‍ Estate Sector: A Prolonged Downturn
China’s real estate sector ‌is experiencing a prolonged downturn due to‍ several factors including considerable borrowing by ⁣reckless property developers.​ The ⁤bubble burst ⁣as a result of Beijing’s⁣ efforts to ⁤control and supervise property developers’ borrowings resulting ‍in​ debts from defaults ⁢and abandoned housing projects.

Completed Unfinished ⁤Homes
In 2021, it⁤ reported that 3 million ​unfinished homes have been completed and⁣ delivered with‍ another 4 million aimed​ for completion this ⁤year​ according to the Ministry of Housing‌ data limited unfinished homes rose ⁤drastically.

Chen Peng’s Story
Chen‍ bought his condo ⁢back in 2015 ‍as an incentive offered through ⁣a ‌friend‍ which required him ⁤putting up a higher ‌deposit⁣ but ran out​ of construction ​funds ‍leading Chen into detention over “illegal gathering.”

Troubled Times‌ at Evergrande
Evergrande started missing repayments leading‍ Zhang ⁣Fenglian ⁣facing problems due to chronically incomplete projects raising concerns over lavish spending outside real estate.
