The Ministry of Transport is embarking on a significant infrastructure project with an investment ‌of EGP 140 billion dedicated to the construction of a multitude of bridges ⁢and tunnels across Egypt.⁢ This initiative follows the substantial ‍investment of⁤ EGP 132 billion‍ since ⁤2014, resulting in the ⁢completion of 945 bridges and tunnels. The primary ⁢goal of these constructions is to modernize road networks,‌ replace surface intersections, and⁤ enhance road safety by reducing traffic ⁣congestion and preventing accidents.

The latest phase of development aims to further⁤ expand the national network by adding 2,500 bridges and⁣ tunnels at ‌a total cost of EGP 140 billion. The broader National Roads Project encompasses the construction of 7,000 km of new roads nationwide, totaling EGP 175 billion, in addition to ‍the upgrade of‌ 10,000 km of existing roads at⁢ a cost of EGP 130 billion.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Transport ‍is focused on enhancing connectivity between the East and West ‍Nile roads, with plans to reduce‍ inter-axis distances to 25 km.
