The India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, issued alerts for heavy ​rainfall across Telangana, including the capital ⁣city.

Intense Downpour in Telangana

Following an‌ extremely heavy⁤ overnight rainfall,‌ various regions ‌in Telangana experienced intense downpours on Friday, increasing the risk ‍of flooding ⁤in concentrated areas.

Notably, Mahadevpur in Jayashankar Bhupalapally district bore the⁤ brunt of the⁢ heavy‍ rainfall, receiving a ⁤record-breaking ⁢207 mm of precipitation, marking the‌ highest ‌recorded in the State for the year, ‍as reported by the Telangana Development and Planning ​Society (TGDPS).

Several districts, such⁢ as ​Mancherial, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Bhupalapally, Sircilla, and Siddipet, have been enduring ⁤continuous rainfall, with rainfall amounts⁤ ranging between 100 to 200 mm.

Updates on Rainfall Distribution

Additional rainfall statistics‍ provided ⁢by TGDPS include 172 ⁤mm in Kotapally​ (Mancherial), 159.3 mm in Kagaznagar (Kumaram Bheem Asifabad), 159 mm in Mahadevpur, and 156 mm⁢ in⁤ Vemanpally (Mancherial).

In Hyderabad, various neighborhoods like Kukatpally, Patancheru, Quthubullapur, Serilingampally, Malkajgiri, Balanagar, Ramachandrapuram, ‌Maredpally, Uppal, Alwal, Khairtabad, and⁢ Shaikpet experienced moderate to heavy rainfall.⁢ Notably, Hydernagar in Kukatpally recorded‍ 53 mm of rainfall, with Samishguda ⁢following at ⁢42.8 mm.

Alert Levels and Precautions

Given the continued heavy rainfall, a red ⁢alert is in place for isolated areas in‌ Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, and Mahabubabad, ⁢indicating ​expected extremely heavy rains.

Similarly, districts like​ Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, ‌Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Warangal, and Hanamkonda are under‍ an orange alert, predicting very ⁤heavy rainfall.

Residents in⁣ Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna ⁤Sirsilla,⁣ Nalgonda, Suryapet, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Kamareddy, and Hyderabad are advised ⁢to ⁣be cautious as​ these areas are under ‍a yellow alert ⁢for⁤ heavy rain. Thunderstorms with lightning⁤ and gusty winds are ⁣expected across all districts.

Hyderabad,​ specifically, is under a yellow alert, with forecasts for moderate​ showers, occasional intense spells, and gusty winds.⁣ The IMD recommends taking‍ necessary precautions, reducing ⁣travel, and ‌staying​ informed ⁢about the weather updates. Additionally, residents​ are alerted about potential waterlogging on roads and ⁣in ⁤low-lying areas, enhancing the risks of slippery ‌surfaces.
