On February 4, 2025, ⁤an engaging media event hosted by JETRO and the⁣ Central Japan Startup Ecosystem Consortium unfolded ⁤in⁣ Nagoya City, coinciding with TechGALA—one ‌of Japan’s preeminent startup gatherings held from February 4-6.This inaugural global ⁢startup event specifically curated by the Central⁤ Japan Startup Ecosystem Consortium aimed to showcase local innovations and entrepreneurial potential.

Akira Odoi, Director of the Innovation ⁣Promotion Department at the Chubu Economic Federation, commenced with an enlightening overview of initiatives fuelling growth within the Central Japan startup ​environment. He underscored how this ecosystem not only nurtures startups ‍but also identifies their specific requirements for sustainable development. Key topics included accelerator programs, funding options available for innovators, unique university incubators, and strategic collaborations extending beyond Japanese shores ‍that are drawing entrepreneurs from around the globe.

!Extraordinary Achievements in Startups

During his presentation on Aichi-Nagoya’s Startup⁢ Consortium achievements,Mr. Odoi proudly shared that they ​surpassed key performance indicators set five years prior—specifically mentioning a⁤ spike in both entrepreneurial talent and buisness collaboration⁤ efforts. The current landscape boasts approximately 848 startups thriving across Central Japan as a result of targeted initiatives designed to leverage its robust industrial heritage.“Central Japan offers tremendous opportunities for nascent businesses due to its rich ‍industry background,” stated⁣ Odoi while highlighting an impressive increase to 20,327 innovative ⁢talents actively involved since 2020 along with ‌ 589 international business matchmaking cases reported recently.

Initiatives Driving Growth: insight from Academia

The latter part of ​this enlightening​ session⁤ featured Kazuya Takeda—Professor at Tokai National Higher Education and‌ Research System—who presented details about Nagoya University’s “Start-up Co-growth Package.” This initiative encompasses comprehensive educational pathways aimed at cultivating future entrepreneurs‍ through various programs tailored for undergraduate‌ engagement.

Takeda spoke vividly about STATION Ai, which emerged as a game-changer—the largest​ incubation hub in Japan fostering connections globally with institutions like Singapore’s National University.
