Tragic Plane-Bus Collision in São ⁣Paulo: A​ Day of Devastation

A small airplane collided with a bus on one of Brazil’s busiest highways early ⁢Friday, leaving two individuals dead and⁤ injuring six others in⁤ a⁣ terrifying⁢ incident.

The violent crash resulted in an immediate explosion, scattering debris from both the aircraft and bus⁣ across São paulo’s Marques de Sao​ Vicente Avenue. Emergency responders swiftly battled the flames to prevent further devastation.

Details Surrounding the Crash

The emergency unfolded ⁤around 7:20 a.m. local time as ⁢the plane attempted to return for an ​emergency landing just five ‌minutes post-departure, as reported by local fire services. It⁤ was on its way to Porto Alegre in Rio Grande do Sul when it lost dialog with‌ Campo de Marte airport’s ‌control tower before plunging into​ traffic.

Eyewitness ⁢Accounts

Dramatic footage captured by bystanders revealed thick smoke and billowing flames engulfing sections of ​marques de ‍Sao Vicente Avenue,⁣ a densely populated thoroughfare within São Paulo’s Barra Funda district. Witness Genival Dantas ‌Arraes recounted his experience: “the explosion was instantaneous.⁢ Everyone froze; palm trees and road signs were‌ being shredded by the ‍impact.”

The wreckage revealed two charred bodies trapped within the small King Air F90 airplane, which is⁣ designed to hold approximately ⁣eight passengers. The victims were identified as⁣ pilot Gustavo Medeiros and aircraft owner Mario Carpena.

Another eyewitness, Adriano Rolim, shared his frightful account saying, “The pilot tried ​to⁢ land on Marques ‍de Sao Vicente but tragically struck the back of‌ a bus after many vehicles swerved away from disaster.”

The Aftermath for Those Injured

Among those injured were a woman aboard the bus and a motorcyclist who sustained severe injuries due to flying debris during this catastrophic event. Rescue teams rushed all six casualties to nearby hospitals for medical attention.

Sao Paulo‍ governor ⁤Tarcisio ‌de Freitas commented on X platform stating: “Regrettably we confront this tragic air accident today in ​our ‌capital.” He applauded emergency responders for their rapid action that contained flames rapidly,⁣ averting what could ‍have led to even greater loss of life while extending condolences to bereaved families.
