During his visit ​to Amman, he met with Ayman Safadi, Jordan’s Deputy​ Prime⁤ Minister and Minister of Foreign ‍Affairs. The discussions centered⁣ around the‍ bilateral relations between the two countries and the current affairs in the Middle‍ East.‍ Minister Bettel reiterated Luxembourg’s⁣ support for Jordan‌ in​ promoting peace ‍and ⁢addressing the⁣ refugee crisis in the region.

The partnership between Luxembourg ⁤and Jordan was emphasized by Bettel as crucial for stability in the ​Middle East. Acknowledging that Jordan shoulders⁢ a significant burden by hosting​ millions of refugees, Bettel expressed a commitment to further ​support the⁣ country through its challenges. A memorandum ​of understanding was‍ signed​ between Ministers Bettel and Safadi to enhance political consultations leading ​to closer​ bilateral ties and collaboration in multilateral organizations.

As part of his trip,⁣ Minister Bettel visited the United Nations Relief and Works‍ Agency (UNRWA) headquarters in⁣ Jordan. He also ​toured a training center managed by UNRWA that provides education‍ opportunities for⁢ Palestinian‌ refugees residing in⁣ Jordan. Luxemburg supports UNRWA’s provision of essential⁤ services including education, healthcare, social services, ‌infrastructure‍ management, microfinance projects as well as emergency interventions to over two million registered Palestinian refugees.

Acknowledging UNRWA’s crucial role‌ amidst deteriorating⁤ conditions in ⁢Gaza Strip specifically stressed during ​his ‌discussions with ⁢agency personnel &⁤ beneficiaries; ​he ‌subsequently reaffirmed Luxembourg’s backing towards UNRWA activities aligned ​with Colonna​ report recommendations & digital archives project preservation efforts encompassing​ historical documentation pertaining⁣ to‌ Palestinian refugee⁢ collective legacy unfolding at present day relevance concerning‌ humanitarian issues surrounding their existence.
